Jeremy Kimura

Director, Fresh Water

Jeremy Kimura

Growing up in Hilo instilled a love and respect for the natural world around me. I am humbled to be part of the team implementing Ulupono’s mission to bring about better stewardship of water in Hawaii. When water lives, we live.

Jeremy is the director of the fresh water sector and is responsible for developing strategy and leading implementation of Ulupono Initiative’s efforts focused on fresh water resource management and its impact on the people of Hawaii. His depth of experience in the sector will enable a holistic approach to complex water-centered issues.

Jeremy joined the Ulupono team in March 2023 after a 16-year career in state government. In his previous role at the Hawaii Commission on Water Resource Management, Jeremy had the good fortune to work with stakeholders from across the water sector on the Hawaii Water Plan.

Jeremy is a proud graduate of Hilo High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. He lives in Makiki with his wife, son and their cat, Pickles.

Outside the Office

Despite not being able to carry a tune, Jeremy has played in bands with a Na Hoku Hanohano award winner, a member of Mannheim Steamroller, and the composer of an Omaha pizza chain theme song.
